Call for Additional Session Proposals

In an effort to provide as much timely and relevant content as possible at the SLA 2020 Annual Conference, SLA is reopening the call for session submissions on the topics of the COVID-19 pandemic, diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI), and social justice. Only submissions that fall under these topics and are relevant to library and information professionals will be considered. Proposals may be submitted by SLA Community conference planners or by individuals.

The deadline for submission is 5:00 pm ET on Monday, August 24th.  Selections will be conducted by Monday, August 31st and notifications to submitters will be sent out that week.

Submit a Proposal

As you formulate your session proposal, you may want to consider these suggested session topics. Session proposals are by no means limited to these topics. 

COVID-19 Pandemic:
- Reopening libraries and information centers
- Librarians and info pros as contact tracers
- Remote working and communication
- Information or library tools and technology
- Leading change/change management
- Strategic planning in an atmosphere of uncertainty

DEI and Social Justice:
- Role of info pros and librarians in social justice movements
- Promoting DEI within your organization or community
- Strategies for working towards societal change
- Implicit bias in the library or other workplace
- Bias within search tools
- History of racism in libraries
