June 11 DEI webinar

By Lesley Farmer posted 9 days ago

The next free webinar hosted by the Special Library Association Academic Education Community and ACRL's EBSS Education Committee will occur at 1:30pm EST on June 11. University of Notre Dame's Africana Studies and Education Librarian Leslie L. Morgan will discuss the topic is “The Good of our Organization: DEI in Libraries.”

This presentation provides what is possible with the infusion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practice within the library of today and the future. There is an old adage that purports organizations that don’t evolve and transform for the current times, will fall away from existence. Libraries are at tremendous risk as a result. Information will be provided from the perspective of the law, from a human resources practitioner perspective, and how libraries can begin to create communities of colleagues where “ally-ship” can begin; where transforming library culture can begin. This presentation is recommended not only for librarians and new/emerging librarian leaders. This presentation is for all librarians and staff within our organizations who have trepidations and are challenged by assumptions that diversity, equity, and inclusion often bring.
