Founded by Leslie J. Reynolds in 2011. New co-editors Jennifer Bartlett and Stacey Greenwell assumed editorship in January 2020.

Congratulations to the winner of the Practical Academic Librarianship's outstanding article for 2022. 
The winner of the 2023 PAL Award is the article “Others-Oriented Reference: Employing Cultural Humility in the Reference Interview,” by Grace Andrews, Bethany Radcliffe, and Garrett Trott. 

As the selection committee summarizes, “this article addressed an original and unique topic of great interest to library professionals. It was well-researched, thoughtful, and demonstrated a structured, well-written presentation of ideas and existing research.”
