    Colleagues!

We have excellent candidates for 2019 for Chapter President-Elect and Chapter Director-at-Large/Membership Chair.

The other elected Board position we need to fill for next calendar year is Secretary.

Its not too hard of a gig! I've done it! :-) For several Chapters and a Division!

Taking minutes at the Board meetings and the annual meeting each year is the main responsibility. This is typically 4 meetings.
Also,  the President will usually want you to pull together reports from the Executive and Advisory Board members before a Board meeting, This simply involves nagging/pinging colleagues, then pulling everything together in a Word document.

We have a pretty detailed Position Description for Secretary, which I'd be happy to share if you are interested.

I need to hear from interested people BY NEXT WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2018, okay?!  Thanks!

Don't let me down in my last big responsibility as Past Prez - recruiting excellent new candidates for the next Board.

    Thank you!

Students and recent graduates, just fresh from college, may have limited or no work experience. A professional organization such as SLA is a great resume builder. If you are an extremely active member of the association, you may find that will you may earn valuable work experience. Your peers, not involved with a professional association, may lack the valuable experience in their career. Even for a person who is employed and doesn't need a new job, a professional association can provide you with opportunities to build your resume as well. Established professionals may enhance their resume  by obtaining a leadership position, like being on a board of of the Southern California Chapter.

Becoming secretary looks great on a resume and is not all that hard to do.  If you can show up for several bpoard meetings (and have a voice in your organization), this is your opportunity!
