    Candidate Statement:

I started in the SLA Southern California Chapter doing the job line, became the Chapter Communications Chair, then the webmaster and Treasurer twice.  Before long, I became the Chapter President, and now I aspire to be the President-Elect for the second time.  I've attended all the Annual Conferences since 2010.  I have served on the SLA Finance Committee since 2018.  I have been honored during that time to work with and be mentored by some of the finest leaders and members SLA has produced.

As I write this, there is discussion of SLA forming a collaboration with another related organization, and I believe we must assess where we expect to stand as members, and as a "Southern California" community.  I do not assume I have all the answers, and look to you to share your wisdom, your preferences, and opinions with me for how SLA, and our Southern California Community will proceed.  I humbly accepted the nomination for this position with this in mind.

As President-Elect, I will begin by talking with other SLA Communities (read Western Regional) about listing and promoting programs and other items of mutual interest across our communications channels. This type of collaboration will enhance all of our Communities with more programming and engagement opportunities for all SLA members.

I support the value of the regional communities of SLA.  I will continue facilitating requests for Community funding and continue to advocate for more transparency in both local and national areas of budgeting for SLA assets.

I will work with SLA Board members and our Board Liaison to the extent that it is available, to optimize the transitions we will face in the near future.

Above all, I want to keep you, the members, in the loop.  I promise to communicate with you to the best of my capacity and be frank and honest with you thru these next three years.
