2020 marks a new decade, a leap year, and an election year in the United States. All year, January 1 - December 31, 2020, I invite you to participate in a postcard exchange art project called, "How's the weather here there?"

To participate, describe your current inner and outer landscape (physical space, emotional state, whatever that means to you) on a postcard as many times as you want this year and mail it to me:

    Erin Fussell
    P.O. Box 13414
    Los Angeles, CA 90013

If you include a return address, I will write back to you describing mine in that particular moment. The project will exhibit in 2021. All addresses redacted for public presentation.

Follow updates #howstheweatherherethere on social media and thank you so much! I look forward to writing you back.

    Hi Erin,

I love this project!  Are you only looking for postcard entries from library professionals?  I ask because this is the kind of thing my social group would be excited to participate in and my friends run the gamut professionally.  I even have some younger friends still working on their undergraduate degrees.  If you're alright with it, I would love to share your message on my social media account.

    Cheers,

    Kit

Thanks for asking, Kit! This project is absolutely for as many people as possible. Invitations are being doled out over the year to lots of different people and organizations through various ways so please share widely. You may even see this on another listserv.

My goal, once the exhibition happens, is to create a book of the project and then the proceeds for that book will go to organizations that assist people experiencing homelessness-- people who can't participate in a project that requires an address. It will be cyclical in a giving exchange.

    Hi everyone,

I'd like to invite you to participate in a postcard exchange project called, "How's the weather here there?" that started January 1 and will continue through December 31 to create a record of the year.

Addresses redacted for public presentation.

In this time of physical social distancing and COVID-19 impacting us all, the postcard exchange provides an opportunity to connect and takes on even more significance as a record of the year 2020. What a crazy time! I would love to read your reflective note and write one back to you.

Occasionally, I post updates on the project on social media using the hashtag #howstheweatherherethere . Also, here is a post about it on my website with a little more info: http://erinfussell.com/new/

Wishing you all good health and peace!
    Thank you,
