    The National Security Analysis Department (NSAD) of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) is looking for an experienced Information Manager to design, develop, and manage a state-of-the-art information management system. NSAD conducts detailed technical and operational investigations of complex National Security challenges, performed using a defined, rigorous, and defendable process, to deeply understand the major elements of those challenges across the whole of the operational and strategic context, to draw insights that inform critical National Security decisions.

    We are seeking a hardworking individual with training and experience in information management and knowledge and experience in information systems. Your skills and abilities are essential in supporting our mission to provide groundbreaking analyses that offer possible technical solutions to the Nation's challenges and shape the long-term analytic strategy of APL. You will work collaboratively with NSAD technical and administrative staff and leadership throughout the organization and help us foster a productive work environment that values diversity and inclusion.

    As the National Security Analysis Department Information Manager your primary responsibility will be to:

    • Manage the collection, validation, editing, and maintenance of data, information, and metadata at various classification levels to support NSAD's analysis mission;
    • Develop a more comprehensive, effective, and efficient information storage, retrieval, and collaboration system, within separate classification channels with appropriate security and access safeguards;
    • Work with NSAD and JHU/APL technical professionals to implement this new information system, migrating from the current information management structure;
    • Work with NSAD and JHU/APL staff to ensure compliance with legal regulations and JHU/APL policies and ensure adequacy, accuracy, legitimacy, integrity, and safety of data;
    • Represent NSAD in internal and external meetings to ensure department data and information needs are met and adherence to all JHU/APL, state, and federal requirements;
    • Collaborate with NSAD and JHU/APL staff to implement processes and quality improvement practices that will improve data submission and data quality;
    • Design and implement new data collection methods and associated information systems as needed;
    • Develop and coordinate training activities for NSAD staff in regards to data submission, data quality and data retrieval;
    • Provide technical assistance to NSAD and JHU/APL staff in regards to data submission, data quality and data retrieval;
    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of guidebooks, technical guidelines, FAQs, etc. to assist NSAD and JHU/APL staff in the submission of data, as required; and
    • Provide technical assistance to NSAD and JHU/APL staff.
