    Archivist/Project Manager Washington DC 

    Zimmerman Associates, Inc. is seeking an Archivist/Project Manager for an opportunity located in Washington, D.C
     Job Responsibilities:

      • Responsible for managing the project end-to-end, including day-to-day activities 
      • Supports document preparation; post imaging processing; document identification processing
      • Responsible for the accessioning, preservation, arrangement, and description of physical historical and/or born-digital records
      • Processes and scans, accessions, and preserves hard copy documents and artifacts
      • Creates descriptive cataloging for digitized material
      • Creates and maintains accurate descriptive metadata for the physical and digital collections to facilitate their use
      • Responds to research inquiries
      • Performs cross-referencing and indexing of reference materials
      • Performs quality control on all items processed
      • Performs Section 508 compliance verification.
      • Performs basic preservation activities, including preparing material for storage
      • Files and/or re-files collection materials as needed
      • Writes proposals and prepares budgets

      Position requirements:

      • Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution
      • Minimum of 2 years of professional Archivist experience, including Archival services operations in a library setting
      • Minimum (2) years of supervisory experience
      • Understanding of preservation, scanning, and records file system
      • Experience with Section 508 compliance and verification
      • Experience in writing proposals and budgets
      • Ability to lift and move collection materials up to 50 lbs.
