    SLA-SCC Career Stories Panel Discussion 08/24/23

    On Thursday August 24, 2023 @5-6pm PT SLA-SCC will be hosting a panel discussion on the topic of "Career Stories." We will have 4 panelist and plan to keep the event to 1 hour.

    What: Career Stories Discussion Panel

    When: Thursday August 24, 2023 @5-6pm PT

    Why: To benefit from story telling of a variety of career professionals. We can learn from, and be entertained, when our fellow information professionals tell us about their career experiences.

    We have these 4 panelist lined to up speak and share their stories. The event will be recorded and posted soon afterwards. 

    Gabi Hysong is the solo corporate librarian for Rolls-Royce, a British multinational aerospace and defense company that develops and delivers complex power and propulsion solutions for safety-critical applications in the air, at sea and on land.

    Ayiana Crabtree is a student pursuing her Master of Science in Information and Library Science at the University at Buffalo in NY with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2024. While pursuing the degree, she is a Graduate Research Assistant and Lead Researcher on grant projects. Ayiana plans to pursue a career in an Academic Library setting and hopes to continue doing research.

    Anna Yang is a science librarian at Santa Clara University, for the departments of biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics, and public helath, where she has worked for the past four years. She first started in the library field as a library assistant, and then became a solo librarian and acting library director. Anna has learned how to jump through hurdles in her career as well as navigate office politics. She loves working at Santa Clara University and living in the bay area. 

    Theresa Rodriguez is a Research and Instruction Librarian at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She is new to her position as of March of this year. Theresa has previously worked in a high school library and public libraries in the adult and children's departments.

    We hope to have time towards the end to answer a few audience questions. And if people feel up to it, we can stay longer for audience members to share their own stories too.
