Anne Gellar Award

The Anne M. Gellar Award

The Anne M. Galler Award and a cheque of $150.00 are given yearly to a student from each of the three graduate Library Schools within the Eastern Canada Chapter region, in recognition of their high achievements in a special library related course or activity.

Previously known as the Book Prize, this award was renamed posthumously in 2000 in honour of Mrs Anne Galler who was a long-standing member and past-president of the Chapter. She began her career in 1958 as head of the Canadian Marconi corporate library and from there moved on to many other corporate and school libraries before arriving at Concordia University where she worked her way to becoming Director of the Library Studies program and then becoming, prior to her death in 1999, the Acting Chair of the Education Department.

To learn more on Anne Galler, read the In Memoriam article published in the Bulletin of the Chapter in March 2000.
