DEDU has volunteer opportunities. Gain leadership skills while working with a great team!

Chair-Elect:  In this division officer role, you will gain valuable leadership skills as you work with the division chair to plan programs for the SLA National Conference, co-lead business meetings, and attend SLA leadership meetings-- online and in person at conferences.  Serving as chair elect is a great way to network and gain leadership experience. In the following year the chair elect serves as chair and manages the division and assists with program planning for the annual conference.

Chair Elect is a 3 year commitment, with 1 year as chair-elect, 1 year as chair and 1 year as past-chair. The most intensive involvement is around the planning of the annual conference which happens during the year as chair. The chair and chair-elect attend, if possible, the Leadership Summit held in the beginning of the year in order to be familiarized with the general running of the association, and to begin the process of planning the annual conference.

Secretary/Treasurer (two-year term):  Use Quicken to keep track of DEDU finances and submit reports to SLA. Excellent opportunity to use your skills or to learn new ones! This combined position can be divided into Secretary and Treasurer positions if that will work for two people.

Education Libraries Editorial Team: As a member of the editorial team, you will work with managing editor Willow Fuchs to solicit and edit articles for our online journal, Education Libraries

Web content assistant: In this role you will work with web manager Maura McGrath to move the division’s web content to a new web platform.

Please contact Kim Bloedel if you are interested in volunteering.
