When:  Sep 26, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (PT)

Our SLA WCC Year End event in Vancouver is happening Thursday, September 26.

Our keynote talk this year is titled “Information Spaces: How Reading Changed in the Middle Ages”, and will be given by Dr. Yin Liu with research assistance from Madison Taylor. Dr. Liu will be exploring a crucial but little-known development in the history of information technology: a phenomenon she calls the ‘medieval reading shift’. She’ll be looking at why it happened, how it happened, and how it changed the way information was stored, organized and retrieved both within the book itself and in libraries. Today, as we confront the challenges of a rapidly changing digital world, there are important lessons to be learned from the medieval past.

Tickets: Purchase your online tickets today. Students and SLA members receive a discount but all information professionals and interested people are welcome to attend.

Catered snacks and a beer or wine is included with your ticket. A cash bar will also be available.
