UCLA SLA Student Chapter and SLA-SCC Tour of Metro’s Library
Saturday, April 13th at 3pm
Join your SLA friends and colleagues Saturday, April 13th for a tour of Metro’s Dorothy Peyton Gray Transportation Library and Archive! Matthew Barrett, Director of the Research Library, Archive and Records Management at Metro, will lead a tour of the collections and give an overview of the digital resources the library provides for Metro employees and researchers from the public.
The largest transportation research library in the United States, it’s a unique collection of ephemera, EIRs, and even mastodon fossils (excavated while tunneling the Red Line) which tell the history of Los Angeles through its transit evolution – from the Red Car to new projects fast-tracked for completion for the 2028 Olympics.
After the tour, we’ll walk through Union Station for a no-host happy hour at Imperial Western Beer Company, an Art Deco gem in the newly renovated historic Fred Harvey room.

RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 11th – a list of attendees must be submitted to Metro Security in advance, so RSVP is required. No RSVP required to attend the Happy Hour though, so feel free to come by and join us if you can’t make the tour!
