Chapter Overview


The Florida and Caribbean Chapter was established by the Special Libraries Association in 1969.  As information resource experts who collect, analyze, evaluate, package, and disseminate information, our chapter members facilitate accurate decision-making in corporate, academic, and government settings. Florida and Caribbean chapter members are employed with corporations, private businesses, government agencies, museums, colleges, hospitals, and information management consulting firms.


The Chapter’s mission is that of the SLA – to promote and strengthen its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives.


The goals of the Chapter are to:

  • Advance the leadership role of chapter members by putting knowledge to work
  • Shape the destiny of today’s information and knowledge-based society
  • Offer creative opportunities to develop and improve professional skills
  • Build a synergistic network of Chapter members who actively and regularly reach out to one another.
