    Posted 05-04-2022 09:27

SLA is currently accepting poster presentation submissions for the 2022 Annual Conference!

The deadline to submit an abstract is Wednesday, May 25at 5:00 pm ET. Submissions within any topic relevant to librarians and information professionals are welcome. Both SLA members and non-members are invited to submit. Accepted poster authors will receive a discounted registration rate for the conference ($400 in-person or $180 virtual).

Posters will be electronic again this year and we will hold poster viewing sessions in person at the conference but there will not be a need to create a physical poster.

    Submission Guidelines and Review Criteria

Abstracts should include the objective or research question, if applicable. Posters may be research-based, or feature case studies, best practices, and more! The description must be substantial enough to provide the review committee with sufficient information to determine what your poster is about.

Including the abstract on your poster is not recommended, as the poster should be a succinct description of your work. Writing a good abstract, however, is an important step in having your poster accepted. An abstract can also serve as an outline for your poster, which can be thought of as an illustrated abstract. The abstract should contain approximately 200-250 words and do the following:

An abstract is a succinct description of your work. It should...

    • Explain why your work is important - set the context and pre-empt the question "so what?"
    • Describe the objective(s) of your work. What are you adding to current knowledge?
    • Briefly explain the methods. Unless the research is about methods, this should not be a major focus of your abstract (or your poster)
    • Succinctly state the results, conclusions, and recommendations that you may have.
    • Contain about 200 to 250 words

The review and selection process will be managed by SLA member review committees organized by topic area. Applicants will be notified of their application status in early June.
