I'm a systems librarian with 15+ years of experience in academic libraries. I have worked with the Ex Libris Voyager integrated library system since it was first brought online in the University System of Georgia. I am currently the institutional lead for the Augusta University team working to implement Alma, a next generation library system from Ex Libris. I have worked closely with critical library software such as EZproxy, ILLiad, Deep Freeze. Endnote, and PC Reservation. I have experience with library instruction, reference, and collection development.
I'm currently the Assistant Director for Library Systems at Augusta University, an institution that was created by the consolidation of the former Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University. In my current role, I oversee the technology at both the Reese Library (undergraduate) and Greenblatt Library (health sciences). In addition, I am the liaison to the Hull College of Business and work closely with their faculty and students to provide library services. Recent accomplishments include the successful consolidation of the online catalog systems for the two institutions and implementing LDAP authentication for Summerville campus GALILEO access.
Until 2011, I led the systems unit within Digital Library Services for the Georgia State University Library, In this role, I was responsible for the library's information technology presence including 400+ student workstations, 100+ staff workstations, and a variety of different servers (Windows Server, Netware and Linux). I managed the local area network and provided PC, network, and printer troubleshooting for the library. Successes included collaborating with central IT to bring up a learning commons which became the primary computer lab for the campus and brought the total number of student workstations up from 120 to 400+. In addition, the library systems unit worked very closely with central IT to implement Altiris to remotely manage the computers.
I have an MLIS from the University of South Carolina, an MBA from Georgia State University and a BBA from the University of Georgia.
