Interested in building and sharing your content expertise on issues affecting special librarians and information professionals? If so, SLA has a short-term volunteer opportunity for you!

The SLA Content Advisory Council (CAC) is seeking volunteers for a project to jump-start the creation of content "toolkits" to meet the information needs of special librarians. The CAC has identified four topics on which to focus their initial efforts to create content toolkits:

    • Diversity/equity/inclusion
    • The evolving role of libraries
    • Showing value and ROI
    • Data (gathering, analyzing, visualizing, etc.)

The first step in the toolkit development process is to establish a task force for each topic. Each task force will consist of approximately five SLA members who are interested in the topic and willing to spend two months performing certain duties. In performing these duties, the task forces will seek to complement the efforts of SLA communities-e.g., the Diversity, Inclusion, Community, and Equity Community (DICE)-that are currently developing content on these topics.

To volunteer to serve on a content task force, please contact the CAC's staff liaison, Stuart Hales, at shales@sla.org. Be sure to indicate which task force topic you would like to address (e.g., the evolving role of libraries). If more than one topic interests you, please rank order the topics to indicate your preference, as in this example:

    • Showing value and ROI
    • Data
