Hello everyone,
I'm posting this request on behalf of Scott Burgh, who's a member of the Chicago Association of Law Libraries. Scott is a retired law library director and has been working hard on passing a bill in the Illinois House. He would like your support by filling out a witness slips. See below for more information:
As many of you know, I have spearheaded and advocated the coroner fee bill to reduces the fees from $5 per page for records. After much work, we have found common ground between the coroners and the research community. HB 4210 provides a flat rate of $15 for coroner records 20 years or more (modelled after the Vital Records Act), provides a provision for coroners to waive fees, and also gives the coroners an increase in fees for cremation permits.
As information professionals, it's crucial that we contain to advocate for fair access to public records. Scott has a long track record in this area. Thank you for your help!
