    The public is invited to the 2nd annual UC DATA Day !

    UC DATA Day 2017, presented by the University of Cincinnati Libraries and IT@UC, is scheduled for Thursday, March 23 from 8:30am - 3:30pm in TUC 400 ABC (see directions). UC DATA Day features a full schedule of engaging events.  See more details below.  All events are free, and include parking, lunch, and an afternoon reception.

    Our 2017 keynote speaker is Dr. Philip E. Bourne of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Dr. Bourne is a Senior Research Investigator at NIH.  Prior to his current role, he served as the first permanent Associate Director for Data Science for NIH and managed NIH’s Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) initiative. 

    Other highlights from the UC DATA Day 2017’s schedule:

    • Introductory remarks from Pat Limbach (Vice President for Research), Nelson Vincent (CIO and Vice President for Information Technology) and Xuemao Wang (Dean and University Librarian).
    • Two multi-disciplinary faculty researcher panels (list of panelists) will speak on their work with innovative or challenging data, including data handling practices, challenges and future opportunities.
    • During lunch, UC Service Providers (IT@UC, Office of Research, UC Libraries and more) will speak on how they support researchers and research data management.
    • NEW -- Data Day Student Poster Session, 1:30-2:30 (TUC 300 Atrium).  Students will discuss their research and their data management practices.  Student poster submission is now open.
    • NEW -- Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) Talks, 2:30-3:30 (TUC 400 ABC) – featuring two leading project management products now available for researchers: LabArchives and OSF (Open Science Framework).
