Basics of Law Librarianship, 2nd Session: Case Law, Admin Law, Statutory Law, Legislative/Regulatory

The second session in this series will be led by Andrea Muto. Andrea will present an overview of practical legal research focusing on strategies and resources for researching Case Law, Administrative Law, Statutory Law and Legislative/Regulatory Histories.
Andrea Muto is a journalist, lawyer, law librarian and former international development consultant. Andrea began her career in libraries as a reference librarian for the business research center at Ernst & Young LLP in Cleveland, Ohio. Following her time at E&Y, Andrea joined the online legal database service LexisNexis as a Librarian Relations Group training consultant serving law firm and law school librarian customers.
After ten years working in various roles with LexisNexis, Andrea completely turned her career trajectory on its head when she joined a Washington, DC-based federal government contractor implementing rule of law projects for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She worked in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a senior legal information advisor, and in 2008 designed and staffed a new law library located on the campus of Kabul University. Andrea then joined a USAID rule of law project in Pristina, Kosovo, where she coordinated the design and development of commercial and contract law courses taught by law professors from the US, Europe and the law faculty at the University of Pristina. She has also worked on short-term library and legal information projects in Mali and Liberia.
Returning to Washington, DC, Andrea joined the Georgetown University Law Center Library where she researched long-term faculty scholarship projects for Faculty Research Services Department. Andrea is now a librarian with the US Department of Justice, where she provides research and reference services for the Tax Division.
