As SLA's community for leadership & management development, LMD has always had great leaders! That tradition continues today and will continue in the future with leaders like Kelly Irving! Kelly is the President-Elect of LMD and today's next board member profiled. For Kelly's complete bio, please scroll down to the bottom of this post.
What is your current role in the workplace?
I am an Associate Director of Consulting Services with Iconitel Consulting Services in Cary, NC.
Why or how did you become a librarian/info pro?
I have worked in the public, private and non-profits sectors where consuming data was a large part of my job. I joined Iconitel in 2007 and now support clients in making informed business decision in the procurement and management of licensed content.
Tell us a little about your history with SLA and/or LMD and why you took a role on the LMD Board.
I have been a member of SLA since 2009. I have primarily volunteered on a local level and am currently a Second-Year Director on the Carolinas Community Board. I joined the LMD committee in 2019 and participated as a panelist in the Content Buyers Forum in 2020. I took the role of President-Elect to become more involved and work with SLA members on a global level.
What do you see as a key professional or organization challenge that you hope to address in 2021?
It is critical to encourage and foster a positive mindset among teams. Keeping teams motivated and positioned to succeed is more important than ever. Challenging times make engagement and enablement even more critical.
Do you have any plans or initiatives for LMD in 2021 you'd like to tell us about?
My primary objective in 2021 will be to learn as much as I can about the LMD Community and to meet with each member of the Board to understand their goals and objectives for 2022.
Finally, what's a little-known fact about you?
I am an avid crafter and enjoy making items for family and friends in my spare time.
