What is your current role in the workplace?

I work as a consultant in helping organizations track, report and manage Research Portfolios across the enterprise. With a strong focus on the overall ecosystem health as well as to ensure best in class solutions. I also have a responsibility to reduce the risk for our clients through ensuring contract compliance on all levels.

Why did you become a librarian/info pro?

I have a love of learning and research and information management appeals to the perpetual student in me as it is an ever-changing environment with so much to learn.

Tell us about your history with LMD.  Why did you take a role on the Board?

I first started working with SLA chapters in 2007 and went on to become President of the NC Chapter. I also facilitated roundtable discussions supportive of the Buyers Forum at SLA conferences and hosted by LMD. I have always been so impressed by the work of LMD leadership and their commitment to the overall health and growth of our industry. So, being a member of the LMD Board has been a professional goal of mine for several years.

Do you have any plans or initiatives for LMD in 2018 you’d like to tell us about?

My primary objective is to build off the wonderful work the Board has done in past year and to ensure that we continue to grow our vendor partners, which will allow us to drive membership achievements to the next level of excellence.

What do you think is a key challenge for SLA, or for our profession, at present?

I tend to think that with each challenge we are presented with an opportunity.  Our market is evolutionary and presents all organizations with diverse and new challenges every day. I do believe in change and that one must adjust to keep up with change, but I do sometimes wonder if we are doing ourselves a favor or injustice to constantly transform to what we believe the market wants us to be.

And, finally, what’s a little-known fact about you?

In addition to my love of books, I have checked off several of my bucket list item of which the most challenging one was to complete a Half Ironman competition.
