Thank you for this wonderful discussion, and giving us advice for sharing the value of libraries with "the why."
We work in the area of need. The client knows what they want. They need the thing we do better than what they do.
Understand what made the client come to you. What obstacles did they have?
Everyone has a job they need to get done. We need to understand how we can help with that.
Work towards the success of your client, not just the success of your library. Always ask questions about your clients, never about the library.
Understand how your clients work will be judged internally.
Get into the mind of your client as a person. What are their pressures: personal and business?
Describe your work with your client's language.
