Thank you for this wonderful discussion, and giving us advice for sharing the value of libraries with "the why."

My take-aways:
  • We work in the area of need. The client knows what they want. They need the thing we do better than what they do.¬†
  • Understand what made the client come to you. What obstacles did they have?
  • Everyone has a job they need to get done. We need to understand how we can help with that.
  • Work towards the success of your client, not just the success of your library. Always ask questions about your clients, never about the library.
  • Understand how your clients work will be judged internally.
  • Get into the mind of your client as a person. What are their pressures: personal and business?
  • Describe your work with your client's language.
