The Maryland Chapter of SLA provides a forum for Maryland information professionals to promote and strengthen our members through continuous learning and networking initiatives. Our members work in diverse organizations, performing responsibilities and assuming leadership roles in the management of information and knowledge assets.


Not a member or are you considering membership?

All of our events are open to members and non-members alike, but some fee-based events may have a slightly higher charge for non-members. Come and get to know us at an upcoming event and we hope you will consider joining the Maryland Chapter of SLA.

Passing of our Colleague and friend

SLA Maryland is grieved to learn of the passing of James King, NIH Library Branch Chief & Information Architect, and Chair of SLA IT Division. James was a luminary in our profession, a mentor to many, and tireless advocate for this Special Libraries Association. Our thoughts are with his wife and daughter. SLA Members are encouraged to share remembrances of James in the Open Forum of connect.sla.org

This morning, SLA news shared a memorial to James and SLA has started collecting donations for a memorial fund in his name. James' family is also collecting donations for his daughter's college fund here
