2. Director – Military Libraries Training Workshop (MLTW) 2023- Michael Steinmacher

This officer chairs the MLTW 2023 Planning Committee.

I would like to be part of the Military Libraries Community Board because I believe I can bring a different perspective as both a former public librarian, leader of one of the Army's most recognized MWR Libraries, and a professional who believes in being involved in the profession through presentations, writing and other forms of engagement.   My experience as a programmer and architect of large, scale, crowd pleasing events makes me ideally suited to assist MLC with its objectives related to professional development.

Michael Steinmacher, 2016 Federal Librarian of the Year, speaks and writes on topics as varied as customer service, branding, and community engagement. A career librarian with years serving diverse populations, his work has appeared in industry standards such as Library Journal and American Libraries. He speaks at conferences and to private groups. He is currently director of Barr Memorial Library at Fort Knox, Kentucky, which he led to national recognition by both the Library of Congress, Department of the Army, and the Department of Defense.
