    We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Information Analyst who can lead efforts to connect APL's innovative scientists and engineers to government and military information. You will work with APL staff to determine their information needs, develop research approaches, conduct research, and assemble research reports.


    As an Information Analyst on the Information and Research Services Team you will…

    • Alert staff to government and technical information related to their interests. This includes developing and employing automated processes to identify, present and communicate new information.
    • Consult with internal customers about technical problems then research, acquire, analyze, and present information  regarding military systems and programs.
    • Support strategic and programmatic planning, new business development, management, and internal innovation grant activities. 
    • Provide training on information resources and processes in virtual classes, videos, and online guides. Market Information and Research Services through internal presentations.
    • Build and maintain knowledge of Navy, other DOD, and government information resources. Liaise with government and commercial sources of planning and technical information. 
    • Represent APL in Johns Hopkins and external technical and information groups.                         

    You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...


    • Have a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience providing information and research services.
    • Are a strong communicator and have experience presenting analyses to technical experts and managers.
    • Have knowledge of DOD and other government information sources and processes.
    • Have an innovative and creative mindset, are flexible, and have a strong customer service orientation and willingness to learn.
    • Work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
    • Are able to obtain a secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.


    You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...


    • Have a Bachelor's or graduate degree in a science or engineering subject related to APL's work (engineering, computer science, physics, geosciences, biological sciences, operations research, etc.).
    • Have active duty military or DOD civilian work experience, particularly in programs or acquisition organizations.
    • Have skills in natural language processing, machine learning, or other computational methods for analyzing information.
    • Have experience or training in competitive intelligence or business reference.
    • Are an active member of relevant associations such as SLA, MORS, IEEE and are a published authors.
