    Hi Everyone -

Please join us for the next in our regular monthly series of free Department of the Interior Library Park Ranger Speaker Series lectures, entitled "The Renovation of the Washington Monument" on Tuesday, March 17th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm ET in the Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior Building's Rachel Carson Room.

On September 19, 2019, the Washington Monument once again welcomed visitors to its observation deck, where from more than 500 feet in the air visitors can view national landmarks such as the U.S. Capitol, Washington National Cathedral, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. During its 37-month closure, much work was accomplished. As a result, the structure has a new entryway and elevator experience. However, amidst all the newness unveiled to the public last September, some things never change. A visit to the Washington Monument has since the 1880's been a destination cherished by those from near and far. It is a true testament of architecture reflective of the physical presence, spirit, and accomplishments of the Father of Our Country.

Please join Park Ranger Brad Berger as reviews the major renovations that have taken place at the Washington Monument since 2016 and why those upgrades were necessary.
