Danielle, hello from a fellow USM grad!
You've already made the first step--connecting with the Military Libraries Community!
First, make an account with USAJOBS,
https://www.usajobs.gov/ and create a saved search. The primary job series to search for is 1410, Librarian; you can also look at 1412, Technical Information Specialist. Some people also look at 1411, Library Technician, as a way in. The starting grade for Librarians is GS-09 (or NAF-4 for General/MWR libraries).
Use the USAJOBS resume builder instead of uploading your own, and don't follow the traditional resume advice of 2 pages. Make it as long as necessary (after 30+ years working for DOD, mine is 7 pages).
Yes, you will have to move, but some positions may pay your way.
With your interest in military history, check out the Army War College Library,
https://arena.usahec.org/-/u-s-army-war-college-library, in Carlisle, PA.

Subject: Some Advice and guidence!!
I am fairly new to SLA. I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi obtaining my MLIS. I will be done by next semester. I have changed careers lete in life because of my passion for military history, so I'm not the average age of a graduate student (42). I wan hoping to get some advice on how to go about finding my first job in the field. I live in Pennsylvania and have been noticing that you may have to move to where a opportunity arises. Just some quick thoughts would be extremely helpful!!! Thank you
