Department:  Abington Township Public Library

Position:  Reference Librarian / Cataloger

Classification: Salaried/Clerical – Exempt – Full-Time

Reports to:  Head, Technical Services and Reference Department

Supervises:  None

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional work in the Technical Services and the Reference Departments of the public library system. In Technical Services, the Reference Librarian / Cataloger catalogs and classifies a variety of materials for circulation; does related work as required. The Reference Librarian / Cataloger will work a busy Information Services desk; assist library users with questions regarding library services, programs and finding items in the collection; and perform one-on-one technology assistance which allows the Abington Township Public Library to provide residents and library patrons quality service while complying with the ordinances and other laws of the Township and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All work is completed in accordance with township ordinances, policies, procedures, practices, and other laws of the Township and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Work is performed under the regular supervision of both the Head of Technical Services and Head of Reference.
