NJSLA Fall 2020 Virtual Technology Event

The New Jersey SLA Community presents:

"Our Relationship With Technology: It's Complicated"
    Speaker: Carson Block

    Wednesday, November 11, 2020
    4:00-5:00 pm Eastern

Every library relies on technology to deliver materials, content and services to users. We depend on tech for our success. How well is your tech serving you? Well...it's complicated! In this fun and interactive session, Carson will share some of the results of a library user satisfaction survey (centered on technology topics) that he conducted showing what's working – and what needs a little more love – in library technology. He will also compare the national results with a current survey of NJSLA members, and offer time for informal and interactive breakouts to share and learn from other members.

As part of this program, we are asking NJSLA members to complete the survey linked below. The survey is geared toward the workplace – if you're not in a workplace, we suggest thinking of your educational institution or other daily environment instead. There's no requirement to participate.

Please complete by Friday, October 30, 2020

Carson Block has been a library technologist for more than 25 years – as a library worker, IT Director and a Library Technology Consultant.  He has been called "a geek who speaks English" and enjoys acting as a bridge between the worlds of librarians and hard-core technologists. He has a passion to de-mystify technology for the uninitiated, and to help IT professionals understand and support the goals of libraries.

Carson is the author of Library Information Systems (with Joe Matthews; Libraries Unlimited 2019) and Managing Library Technology: A LITA Guide (Rowman & Littlefield 2017).

NJSLA gratefully acknowledges our sponsor, LibraryLinkNJ for making this event possible
