The NJ Community of the Special Libraries Association invites you to the following free virtual event:

Project Sharing with NJ SLA Members: Informal Discussions on What We Are Working On

    June 8, 2023: 3pm – 4pm (ET)

The NJ Community of SLA is piloting an informal program that spotlights member projects. Come, listen and share your thoughts on three separate projects currently ongoing in New Jersey special libraries. These are informal presentations to share our expertise, while soliciting feedback and suggestions to enhance the overall project.

    Member Presenters:

Emma Moore, Mathematics and Natural Sciences Librarian at the Institute for Advanced Study

Project – Completing a Digitization Project of Lecture Notes with Student Help

The IAS Library contains a small but significant number of relatively rare lecture note volumes, possibly valuable to the math community and under our own copyright. This presentation will discuss how Emma and her student got them on the ALBERT digital repository, as well as the challenges and benefits of conducting a digitization project as a solo librarian.

Karen Botkin, Law Librarian at Verizon

Project – Setting Up an In-House Continuing Legal Education Program

From drafting speakers, setting up the connections with the tech crew, doing the marketing to encourage attendance and arranging for state CLE credit, we'll try to cover the CLE process step-by-step.

Julie Peters: James B. Carey Library Director at the School of Management and Labor Relations of Rutgers University

Project – Capturing Archive Material from the Recent Rutgers Faculty Unions Strike

Will discuss the collaborative effort of documenting the recent strike by not only obtaining physical materials from the strike but organizing a movement across the university involving numerous departments.
