    Dear all,
I received the sad news that Mary McNierney Grant recently passed away.
In 1986, Mary won the SLA Hall of Fame Award for compiling three editions of SLA's Directory of Business and Financial Services.  She also served on the SLA board.  Mary had a long and impressive career working in libraries, including holding positions at Price Waterhouse and the Nassau County Library, and she taught at Columbia University and Long Island University.  She was a valued member of the library community and a dear friend to many.  Her full obituary can be viewed here.
My condolences to all who knew Mary, and thank you to Doris Katz for sharing the sad news of Mary's passing.

Stacie, thank you so much for sharing the news of Mary's passing. I had lost touch with her over the last few years, but early in my career, she was a very important resource, mentor and role model for me. She joined two other SLA legends, Dorothy Kasman and Lorna Daniells, in forming my attitude toward business librarianship. I was indeed fortunate to learn from these stellar business librarians.
