Dear New York members,
As many of you are aware, SLA is undergoing a restructuring and rebranding in order to attract and retain members in both traditional librarian roles as well as those who fall into the information professional and knowledge management practice areas. The restructuring involves changing the units from chapters and divisions to communities, along with centralization of finances.
The SLA-NY Community is one of the largest and we intend to continue with programming and events as planned for 2020 and beyond. We hope that SLA will thrive under its new identity and it's important to us to maintain the networking, programming and connections that exist within the community in New York.
It's understandable that this transition may cause trepidation and concern in many, both long-term and newer members. The NY Board is working to ease the transition to the extent possible, and we would like to remind everyone that we are listening and want to hear your suggestions and concerns about the restructuring. We invite you to discuss it here in the New York Connect community, in the 2020 SLA Restructuring Initiative Connect community, or you are welcome to talk to any of us directly, if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly.
We are looking forward to a great year and hope to see you at upcoming events.
