Congratulations to this year’s SLA-NY Spotlight Award winner, Stacey DiFazio! The Spotlight Award recognizes knowledge professionals for notable and unique contributions during the previous year.
We are recognizing Stacey for her work on the SLA-NY archives. The time and effort she put into the organization and processing of our archival collection in a volunteer capacity is simply amazing. The process and documentation she provided is invaluable and set the bar on how the community handles the archives and other large projects in the future.
Stacey presented her work during our 2020 Annual Business Meeting. Watch her presentation to learn key highlights from SLA NY history: Archives Collection Highlights 1928-1978.
She also uncovered a story of fame, fortune, and scandal that she shared with the community: “Please make check payable to Martha Stewart”.
Stacey DiFazio earned her MLIS at the University of Rhode Island and has been a practicing Librarian since 1992. She has worked in public, government and law libraries in the United States and in Australia, and has distinct expertise in strategically aligning collections, resources and services with organizational goals; transforming chaos into order and making the previously unknown easily accessible; and initiating sustainable solutions and documenting and sharing knowledge.
Stacey envisioned and developed À La Carte on Demand, an innovative strategy for current awareness and for curating a relevant digital journal article collection, without subscribing to anything. She is currently the Medical Library Director at Coney Island Hospital Medical Library. In her spare time she volunteers at the 82nd Street Greenmarket and enjoys photography and genealogical research.
