    The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries, in partnership with the UAB Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, seek innovative and creative professionals to fill the position of Clinical Research and Education Librarian. The successful candidate will be a key member of Anesthesiology Department, located within UAB Hospital.  The librarian will manage the collection and physical space for the Anesthesiology Library, and provide a broad range of research and scholarly support and instructional services to anesthesiology faculty, residents, and fellows. This position reports to the Vice Chair for Education in Anesthesiology and the Clinical Services Librarian at UAB Libraries, and is a 12-month, non-tenure earning faculty position. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

    Required Qualifications:

    -Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution -Three (3) years of relevant library experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement -Demonstrated knowledge of advanced searching techniques in health sciences databases including PubMed -Experience in biomedical librarianship in a health sciences, life sciences, or academic hospital setting -Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills -Evidence of initiative, flexibility, and collaboration -Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

    Preferred Qualifications:

    -Five (5) years of relevant library experience preferred -Demonstrated experience teaching adult learners preferred -Track record of library and/or subject-related publications and presentations at appropriate professional meetings preferred
