Can anyone share either experiences in working with the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) or, more generally, how your company approaches licensing audio-visual content? My assumption based on my knowledge of copyright law and experience with the CCC is that a public performance license (like any other copyright license) can be published directly from the copyright owner and that a collective licensing organization like the MPLC is helpful for streamlining and bundling licenses but not a requirement. Can anyone confirm/advise, or suggest other resources? (I'm asking around at copyrightlaws.com too.) Many thanks!
