  • 1.  Quosa shutdown?

    I heard a rumor today that Elsevier was shutting down Quosa by the end of the year.  Can anyone confirm?  I'd like to stay on top of this to inform clients who are in exploratory stages of licensing content management tools.

    Hi, all-

     

    They are migrating to a new platform that is fully web-based and won't require the installation of a desktop app. I haven't heard a hard date for all customers to be migrated. They've been working on this for about three years now, so it hasn't been a rushed effort, and all of their customers should be aware of it. I don't know, but I imagine new customers will be started on the new platform.

    @Dwayne Conn - I helped 2 of my clients migrate to the new platform last year (Q4 2021). That's correct that the move to the new platform had been developed for awhile as you mentioned. Can't speak for all of the Quosa customers obviously (ha ha) but I believe most everyone had been migrated to on or before June 2022. I say June 2022 as that is the date that Internet Explorer (IE) was FINALLY sunsetted by Microsoft. If you recall, legacy Quosa depended on IE.

    @jillshuman - If you have an Elsevier representative, I recommend that you speak with them. Meanwhile I've sent you a DM.

    Hello all,

    It's not a rumor. It's official!! Elsevier will discontinue the entire QUOSA line by June 2023. Their 3rd party developer is in Russia and Elsevier has to stop the contract due to war, sanction, and etc. You all have to look for a new solution.
