Rebecca has led and facilitated over 100 planning and organizational design projects with clients from small, volunteer-run non-profits to large research university libraries. Rebecca also teaches professional development courses for the Southern Ontario Library Services’ Advancing Public Library Leadership (APLL), is program lead of BC InterLINK’s Library Leadership Excellence and Development Institute (LLEAD) and was a Mentor for the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute.
Prior to founding Dysart & Jones with her business partner Jane Dysart in 1992, Rebecca spent 8 years as Manager, Information Services, Records Management and Technology Training with Imperial Oil Ltd.
One of Rebecca’s distinctive approaches is to maintain what she calls the “organizational edge” by joining organizations as an employee. This allows her to live the operational and organizational realities of her clients and factor these realities into her consulting work.
She was honored to be the Director of Branch and Neighborhood Services at Brampton Library from 2015 to 2018 and the Director of the Professional Learning Centre at the University of Toronto Faculty of Information (iSchool) from 2004 to 2008.
Rebecca holds an MLS, is a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association, a recipient of the Dow Jones Leadership Award, and received Ontario’s Public Librarian of the Year Award and Canada’s Award for Outstanding Service to Librarianship in 2015.
