At the Cline Library Special Collections and Archives, Cline Library, Northern Arizona University, Route 66 has a special place. The collecting focus is "Human and Natural History of the Colorado Plateau". Sean Evans will discuss where it has taken the institution - collections they have gotten in, the array of materials, the popularity, the exhibit (2009) and the planning towards 2026 (66's centennial).

11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A Photographic Tour of Route 66 in Arizona

This presentation will take meeting participants on a tour across Route 66 in Arizona. Pulling from the photographic collections at the Northern Arizona University, Sean Evans will discuss the evolution of Route 66, starting with the establishment era, the 1937 and 1947 realignment periods, the bypass era of I-40, and finishing with the renewal period of today.

Presenter: Sean Evans is an archivist to the Cline Library Special Collections and Archives, Cline Library, Northern Arizona University. Over the course of his career at NAU, he confesses that he is an unabashed Reference librarian at heart. He has worked Reference or service desks for his entire library career- beginning in 1981. He is also a recovering Federal Depository Librarian (1989-2003), and has provided subject area support to Arts & Letters, Education, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Business teams here at NAU. He was the curator for the library's "Route 66 in Arizona: Don't Forget Winona!" Exhibit which ran from August 2009-August 2010.
