Under the direction of the Dean of Instructional Support Services and in collaboration with the Library Department Chair, the librarians are responsible for providing services such as reference, instruction, collection development, technical services, and outreach.

Master's Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science OR the equivalent OR a valid California Community College Instructor Credential in Library Science.

Upon initial employment, full-time faculty members are placed on the salary schedule based upon years of experience and education. Initial salary placement for experience can range from $58,101.00-$87,423.00 per year. Faculty members are encouraged to continue their professional development through additional study qualifying them for advancement on the salary schedule. Benefits include a choice of medical plans, dental coverage, vision, sick leave and an optional tax deferred flexible benefit plan. Coverage is offered for employees and all eligible dependents.

Academic employees participate in the State Teachers' Retirement System, a defined-benefit retirement plan through the State of California.
