Webinar Workshop on Data Visualization Roadshow: Engaging a campus with data visualization resources
Speakers:
Jeff Oliver is the Data Science Specialist in the Data Cooperative at the University Libraries. He supports researchers with their data science needs, primarily with data analyses and visualizations.
Devin Bayly is a member of the Research Technologies Data Visualization team at the University of Arizona. He works with researchers, students, and faculty to tell stories and communicate ideas with visualizations on and off the web.
Kiri Carini is the Geospatial Specialist in the Data Cooperative at the University Libraries. She supports researchers and students with their GIS and geospatial data needs.
Description: This workshop is an introduction to tools used for data visualization and some best practices to keep in mind. Our speakers will cover a range of visualizations used for tabular, geospatial, or network data, and highlight software to generate these visualizations. At the end of this workshop participants will be able to talk about the theoretical "what, how, and why" of data vis and move forward from this visualization design to implementation using the tools covered.
