The Special Libraries Association (SLA) is an international nonprofit association that connects information professionals to one another. SLA’s mission is to promote and strengthen its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives. The organization maintains an online magazine, various social media channels, discipline-specific divisions, and regional chapters to support its wide network of information professionals.
The SLA Toronto Chapter supports the Southwestern Ontario region, and is particularly active in the Greater Toronto Area. We have approximately 150 members and maintain relationships with relevant academic programs at nearby schools. Our members span a range of job titles including Information Managers, Law Librarians, Records Specialists, and Knowledge Managers. We connect with our membership via direct email, the SLA Connect forum (login required), and various social media channels. Our partners have the opportunity to reach a diverse audience across multiple channels through a relationship with SLA.
SLA Toronto hosts events throughout the year, with our annual Summer Social and Joint Holiday Social being key highlights. Coordinated by SLA Toronto every December, the Joint Holiday Social happens in collaboration with the Toronto Health Libraries Association, the University of Toronto Faculty of Information Alumni Association, and the Ontario Libraries Association Special Libraries Committee. SLA Toronto is committed to developing and maintaining relationships with related professional associations in order to best serve the special libraries community in the Southwestern Ontario region. As a result, our partners are able to reach not only the SLA Toronto audience, but other association memberships as well.
Other opportunities for partnership include:
- Providing guest speakers for roundtables, and networking events;
- Hosting or co-hosting webinars;
- Providing content in our quarterly publication The Courier; and
- Discussion forums and publications.
Partnering with SLA Toronto allows you to:
- Advertise directly to one of the largest groups of Canadian information professionals with purchasing power;
- Collaborate on local- and global-reach events; and
- Link your company from our website.
