The special and circulating collections of Northwestern University's Transportation Library number more than 500,000 items, covering all modes of transportation. Cole will share a selection of items from across collections, including but certainly not limited to:
- Airline and railroad menus, timetables, and annual reports designed by some of the most celebrated graphic designers of the mid-20th century
- A small flower hand-crocheted by Janie Brady Jones, widow of folk hero railroad engineer Casey Jones
- Maps, pamphlets, and photographs documenting the marketing of electric vehicles in the 1910s
- Great Lakes steamship passenger ephemera, dating from the 1890s – 1970s
