How to Connect

SLA Connect is the online community for SLA members and the primary communications platform for all Chapters and Divisions. Access to SLA Connect is only open to members in good standing. All SLA WCC members will automatically have a basic profile set up in Connect and will be subscribed to the Western Canada community (as well as the “Open Forum” community for all SLA members).

To log in to SLA Connect

  • Go to
  • Log in with your SLA membership credentials (username/email and password)
  • To view and update your profile, open the dropdown menu in the upper right of the screen, and select “Profile”

Adjusting notification settings

By default, SLA Connect is set up to send emails to members in a “Daily Digest” format, which combines all of the day’s messages into one email.

You can also choose to adjust your settings to receive messages in real-time, or suspend messages entirely, by going to “Profile”, then choosing “My account” and “Community notifications.”

To post or reply to messages in Connect

To post a message within a community:

  • Enter the desired community by expanding the “Communities” tab and viewing the list available under “My Communities”
  • Click on the “Discussion” tab, then use the “Post a Message” button
  • Your message will appear within the community and will also be delivered via email to members who have opted to receive notifications from this community
  • Make sure to clearly identify the topic of your message in the subject line

When responding to a post in a community, you have two options:

  • Use the “Reply to Group” link to send your reply to the group (this is encouraged if your response will help others and add to the SLA body of knowledge)
  • Use “Reply to Sender” (expand the menu to see this option) to send a private offline message to the original poster
